Foundation for Youth Awakening and Empowerment commemorated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and World Aids Day on 2nd December 2022 at Amina Hall G.R.A Gombe, Gombe State with the theme ‘Equalize and transformative solution for inclusive development.
The event involved presentations on the theme, interactive Sessions, questions and Answers, music presentations by invited artists, drama and speech presentations by the deaf community and Goodwill Massages.
The main issues raised at the end of the discussions include:
- Signing and domestication of the Disability Right Bill.
- Establishment of a commission/agency for Persons with Disabilities in Gombe State.
- Creating a disaggregated database for Persons with Disabilities that are living with HIV/Aids.
A call was made for the government to take action and for CSOs to advocate that these issues be addressed.
