HISTORY OF FOYAE

Foundation for Youth Awakening and Empowerment is a youth focused Non-Governmental Organization established out of zeal and passion for the youth. FOYAE was established December 2011, in Gombe state and later registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) with registration number CAC/IT/NO 50249 on 10th February, 2012 when it officially began operations. Mrs. Linda G. Allabura the visioner and her Husband Mr. Ishaku G. Allabura, the pioneer, both driven by passion and love for youth and youth activities moved towards the establishment of the organization. They started with few youths Dulyamba Ishaku, Benjamin Maina and Charles Tadi and a seven-member Board of Trustees, who shared their vision and together the organization came to existence. The Pioneer Management staff includes 1. Linda G Allabura – Executive Director 2. Cleobas N.B James – Admin & Programmes Officer 3. Dulyamba Ishaku – Finance Officer 4. Benjamin Maina – Monitoring and evaluation Officer 5. Charles Tadi – Sports Officer 6. Rista Yakubu – Health Officer

Foundation for Youth Awakening and Empowerment is a youth focused non-religious, non-partisan, non-profit making and non-governmental organization that contribute its quota in empowering and developing youth to realize their potentials and participate in the development of the society.

OBJECTIVES

1. To advocate for and empower locals, especially youth, to maintain an environment free of hazards and threats as well as other environmental related diseases.
2. Encouraging youth participation in decision making on issues affecting them, especially on sustainable environmental protection and developmental activities.
3. To promote income generating activities and create vocational skills for the youngsters, women, and children to become self-sufficient and reduce the level of poverty living.
4. To promote Understanding and better relationship among communities as well as attitudinal change for working together for peace and development in the society and creating good atmosphere of stability and environmental protection including wildlife.
5. To encourage communities for sustainable development and mobilize among them awareness on HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis and other diseases including epidemic outbreaks, by discouraging spread and stigmatization and encourage prevention.
6. Seek equal access to quality education at all levels for the youths and bridging the gap between the two genders through encouraging girl-child education.

Governance

FOYAE has a defined structure including Annual General Meeting (AGM), a seven-man Board of Trustees (BoT) and Executive Committee.
The structure determines the chain of command and hierarchy of responsibility within FOYAE.
The Board of Trustees, comprising of people of repute, who have made marks in various works of life. It is the highest decision making organ in the organization in conformity with the organization’s constitution, approving policies and reviewing achievements and plans. It is also responsible for planning and policy making of the organization. It also does the controlling and approving of all the activities of the Executive Committee.
The Executive Director is the head of the Executive Committee that is responsible for the implementation of all the programs and daily management activities of the organization.
